The latest innovative, state of the art, hi-tech doodah is now in situ and stringent training has begun.

Soon, my lovelies, I’ll be using my brand-new laser machine to fix your fungal nails and say farewell to your fred veins. Sorry. I do like alliteration. THREAD veins.

What is Fungal Nail Infection?

Apart from a source of embarrassment and self-consciousness, that is? Fungal Nail Infection (Onychomycosis) is a common but frustrating problem, affecting around 10 million people across the UK. Onychomycosis tends to occur in more men than women and more frequently in older people.

Most fungal nail infections are merely cosmetic, causing unsightly nails that appear thickened, yellow, flaky, or crumbly. Nails become impossible to trim and may smell unpleasant. However, left untreated, fungal nail infections can become painful and cause further complications.

What causes Fungal Nail Infection?

Nail fungus infections have numerous and varied causes. Damaged nails tend to be most at risk. Athlete’s Foot, which affects the skin between the toes, can also affect the nail and cause fungal problems. And – yuk, sorry – hot, sweaty shoes are the perfect environment for the fungus to thrive. Let your tootsies breathe!
Certain severe medical conditions – including diabetes – and poor health in general, as well as smoking, can raise the risk factor too. In these cases, check with your GP before booking treatments.

Fungal Nail Laser Treatment

As with all Enhance of Cheshire treatments and therapies, a comprehensive consultation is a must. We’ll check your nails’ condition and chat about the benefits of our fungal nail laser treatment. Treatment appointments don’t take long. In fact, the actual application of the laser to the nails takes just a few minutes, and any discomfort is minimal.

The laser applies pulsed light energy to the nail, causing a rapid temperature increase, which immediately begins to break down the fungus. The micro light pulses target the fungus and won’t damage the nail itself or the surrounding skin.
After treatment, we’ll discuss how best to take care of your nails and avoid nasty fungal infections in future. Sandal toes, here you come!

What are Thread Veins?

Sometimes known as spider veins, broken blood vessels, broken capillaries, facial telangiectasia or even rosacea veins, thread veins are teeny, tiny blood vessels. These pesky little veins are visible on the very surface of the skin, often the nose and cheeks. They’re usually red but can also be purple or blue. Crucially, they’re rarely dangerous or harmful. They’re smaller than varicose veins and closer to the skin’s surface. However, that doesn’t mean they’re not unsightly or that you should just put up with them if they bother you.

Laser treatment for facial thread veins is highly effective and predictable, but it’s not something that many people seem to know about. Well. THAT’S about to change!

Why Do Thread Veins Appear?

There doesn’t seem to be any specific cause, although there are a few contributing factors, such as:

  • Being outdoors a lot – they’re common in those who work outside, and in walkers, cyclists etc.
  • Drinking alcohol frequently
  • Family tendencies
  • Certain medications
  • Age

Treatment doesn’t take long, and, once treated, the vein cannot come back. Fresh face forward.
